About the P31 wreck
This ship used to be called Pasewalk (GS05). I was built in East Germany between 1968 and 1969 and served in Volksmarine until 1990, when it was disbandedand and later sold to Malta (1992). Maltese Offshore Command of the Maritime Squadron of the Armed Forces of Malta changed the name to P31 and used the ship as partol boat securing the Maltese coast.
She was decommissioned in 2004 and bought by the Malta Tourism Authority. In 2009 she was cleanded and scuttled off the Maltese island of Comino at a depth of 18 metres (59 ft) to serve as a diving site and artificial reef. (Wikipedia)
Since the wreck is so popular among divers from all-over the world, we scanned it and published the 3D model on-line, so it can be used as a 3D map for divers planning their dives, as well as for training and marketing purposes by Maltese dive centres.

A 3D model as a map for divers
A good 3D scan of a shipwreck, for diving purposes, needs to show details, but most importantly, enterances, exits and possible hazzards. Because it will be used by divers as a 3D map, to plan their dives, often long before they even arrive in the location. It will also be used by instructors for training purposes. Finally, if the model looks great, it can serve as marketing material for dive centres, encouraging people to use services of those centres that have the best map possible.
